2014 Chateau St Jean Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley is outstandingEarthy minerality along with black raspberry and black cherry fruit dominate the aromatics along with some forest floor. A medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated and impressive effort from Château St. Jean, it should be drunk over the next 15 or so years."

2015 Michel Gassier's “Cercius Blanc”

Rhone, France

Made from 70% Grenache Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Blanc. A wonderful straw yellow color with appealing white peach, lychee and citrus aromas. Fresh and focused with a lovely texture. It shows hints of stone fruits, mandarin orange, lime and a bit of spice flavors underscored by an alluring minerality and a clean lingering finish. No oak, but the wine is aged on the lees, which imparts an uncommon richness. The 30% Sauvignon Blanc adds an intriguing and distinct citrus note to the floral-laced honeydew melon of the Grenache Blanc. It’s medium to full-bodied in flavor, this makes for a wonderfully versatile food wine.

2015 Chateau Durand-Laplagne Puisseguin Saint-Émilion

Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France

“The 2015 Durand Laplagne has an attractive undergrowth tinged bouquet with blackberry and wild hedgerow scents. The palate is well balanced with crisp tannin, good fruit concentration with a firm structure, fresh and perhaps a little masculine. This is an excellent Puisseguin Saint Emilion with heaps of personality and it's going to be a joy once in bottle.”
