Multi-Importer "Taste of Spain" Wine Tasting

Join us as three passionate Spanish importers share 9 of their wines from their diverse portfolios. Featured wines are from the Penedés, Rioja, Montsant, Rias Baixas and Bierzo regions of Spain.

In collaboration with Chef Daryl, Importer, Jose Louis Alvarez will also serve Paella from a family recipe at Grapes from noon to 2:00 pm!

2017 Senda Verde Albariño
Rias Baixas, Spain
Bright and aromatically complex, this 100% Albariño has notes of ripe apricot, apple and wild flowers. Fresh and crisp with a persistent lush texture on the palate, the finish is fruity with mineral nuances. Pairs well with rich, tart and lightly spicy foods, and an excellent accompaniment to fish and seafood dishes.

2017 Senda Verde Godello
Bierzo, Spain
Elegant and aromatically complex, this beautiful white wine from Bierzo is full and persistent with a lush texture on the palate. Notes of white peaches and pear flirt with the fruity and mineral finish, making this an excellent choice to serve with grilled fish or poultry.

2015 Mayador Sidra Asturiana Sparkling Cider
Asturias, Spain
One of the oldest producers in the Asturian region, the family behind Bodegas Mayador has been making traditional sidras since 1939. The aroma is fresh with hints of blossoms, lime, zest of lemon, grapefruit, ferns and grass. The taste is elegant sour with a thin body. The citrus and lime accents are very present but they are well integrated in this very delicate and refreshing drink.

An elegant and balanced Spanish sparkling with fine bubbles and a complex structured palate, Mas Fi Brut undergoes a second fermentation in bottle and is aged 10 months.  40% Xarek-lo, 35% Macabeo, 25% Parellada.  White flower and citrus scents dominate the nose while the palate offers fresh stone fruits and pleasant creamy flavors.  Splendid as an aperitif this wonderful Brut also performs well alongside a wide array of cuisines.

2018 Carlos Serres Rosé
Rioja, Spain
Bodega Carlos Serres has been family owned since 1896 and is one of only a few centenarian producers in Rioja. (100 + years old)  This deep and bright reddish pink wine has aromas of raspberry, as well as hints of violet, candy and balsamic characters.  The fresh, bright and crisp finish lends a great balance.

2012 Carlos Serres Rioja Reserva

Deep ruby in color, this complex and elegant Rioja Reserva has aromas and flavors of candied red fruits and coconut, vanilla and cinnamon spice, with a smoky note as the wine opens up.  Extremely velvety smooth and harmonious with well-rounded tannins.

2010 Carlos Serres Rioja Gran Reserva
Rioja, Spain
The 2010 harvest will go down as one of Rioja’s greats, and that means wines like this Gran Reserva can be excellent and affordable.  It has a nose of mocha, smoke and earthy berry fruits. The palate is layered and texturally complex, while flavors of root beer, baking spice, dried cherry and plum spread out on a smooth finish that is just right in terms of residual tannins and acid.
