Au Bon Climat

Wines of Vision, Balance, and Character

Au Bon Climat Winery has cultivated an international reputation for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Jim Clendenen, the “Mind Behind” Au Bon Climat, is recognized worldwide for his classically styled Burgundian-focused wines. In 1989 and 1990 Au Bon Climat was on Robert Parker's short list of Best Wineries in the World, and in 1991 was selected by Oz Clark as one of fifty world-wide creators of Modern Classic Wines. Dan Berger of the Los Angeles Times named Clendenen the "Los Angeles Time Winemaker of the Year" in 1992; Food & Wine magazine named him "Winemaker of the Year" in 2001. Germany's leading wine magazine, Wein Gourmet, in 2004 name Clendenen “Winemaker of the World;” and in 2007, Jim was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s “Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America.”

2017 Au Bon Climat Chardonnay Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County, California
The 2017 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is a beautiful example of the Au Bon Climat style. The flinty, stony aromas stand out while in the background is a hard spice note from sur lie barrel aging. There are notes of lemon-lime and soft vanilla. With the first taste it is irresistible. This is one of those wines that invite the drinker to have another glass.
Regular Price $34.99 per bottle, $419.88 per case
Sale Price $29.99 per bottle, $359.88 per case

2017 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County, California
Strawberries and blackberries aromas slowly rise out of the glass. Overtime, more of the anise and clove will mix with these other aromas. Currently, the wine is young with mouth filling intensity and suppleness. Complexity will increase as the wine ages, and this wine should age well for 6 or 7 years.
Regular Price $34.99 per bottle, $419.88 per case
Sale Price $26.99 per bottle, $323.88 per case

2016 Au Bon Climat “Bien Nacido Vineyard” Pinot Noir
Santa Maria Valley, California
From this legendary vineyard in Central California’s Santa Maria Valley comes one of Jim Clendenen’s most lauded Pinot Noirs. This wine is outrageously beautiful. Sweet dark cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange all run through this racy, captivating Pinot. Vibrant and nuanced, with striking exoticism, the 2016 comes alive in the glass with tons of vibrancy and a level of purity that is hard to fully do justice to with words.

Gramercy Cellars

A sommelier's palate, a farmers thumb and a winemakers soul

A Manhattan-based Master Sommelier tastes some Washington State wines and is so inspired, he sells everything to move across the country to make his own. That’s the start of the story of Gramercy Cellars, where a close eye on the grapes (picked for almost-peak ripeness, mostly organic), matched with minimalist wine making techniques (no or little new oak, no additives) and a lot of time (extended aging) has created wine that’s considered some of the best that Washington offers.

2018 Gramercy Cellars “Antoine Creek Vineyard” Viognier
Columbia Valley, Washington
The 2018 is a perfect balance of texture and elegance, but is perhaps, one of the most classically aromatic versions to date.  This screams Viognier, in the best possible way. This wine has a very long mouthfeel, balanced with intense acid and intensity. The wine is fermented in stainless steel to give the wine freshness. Aging for eight months in neutral wood adds texture to the wine. Tropical fruits and white flowers dominate the aromatics, while a racy acidity balances the rich mouthfeel. Very concentrated and complex.

2015 Gramercy Cellars “Lower East” Cabernet Sauvignon
Walla Walla, Washington
Lower East Cabernet Sauvignon is all about deep dark bing cherry fruit on the nose, with herbs de Provence, candied rhubarb, red currant and vanilla as well as hints of tobacco leaf, smoke and cedar-lined cigar box. The palate offers bright red fruits of Bing cherry and currant, balanced by herbal notes of thyme, chervil and tobacco leaf. Beautiful, long, and viscous finish. Will pair brilliantly with steak.
Regular Price $39.99 per bottle, $479.88 per case
Sale Price $31.99 per bottle, $383.88 per case

2015 Gramercy Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
Columbia Valley, Washington
Densely packed aromas of creme de cassis, milk chocolate and sagebrush await you in this great entry level Cabernet Sauvignon by Gramercy. The palate is plush and decadent, revealing black tea, mocha, and wild blackberry cordial flavors. With good minerality, tension and weight, this outstanding wine will cellar well for a decade or more.

2016 Gramercy Cellars “The Third Man” Grenache
Columbia Valley, Washington
The 2015 Gramercy Cellars ‘The Third Man’ Grenache has a touch of Syrah and Mourvédre blended in. Sour cherry, rose petals, and citrus rind aromatics dominate the nose. The weight and acidity of the wine is really good, as this shows red cherry candy, blood orange, rose water and wet stone flavors that all dance in the glass. The brightness here suggests some good aging potential.
Regular Price $44.99 per bottle, $539.88 per case
Sale Price $34.99 per bottle, $419.88 per case

2015 Gramercy Cellars “L’Idiot du Village” Mourvédre
Columbia Valley, Washington
“A mixture of Olsen and Alder Ridge vineyards, this lighter-colored wine is brooding on first pour, with aromas of fresh parsley, crushed flower, dried herb, mineral, orange peel, smoked meat and raspberry emerging over time. The palate shows a fresh light styling, with a meaty peppery finish. It's a very pretty expression of the variety, with an impressive sense of balance and sophistication.”
