European Cellars French & Spanish Imports with Special Guest Matt Carroll!

Saturday, February 15, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

European Cellars was founded by Eric Solomon in 1990. From the start, Eric championed unheralded wine growing regions and promoted young, innovative winemakers. His initial focus was France where he was an early proponent of the wines of the Rhône, the Languedoc and the Roussillon. His growing reputation in Europe as a new, dynamic and successful importer prompted Daphne Glorian, esteemed spanish winemaker to send him, unsolicited, a sample of her wine, Clos Erasmus in 1993. This wine would change Eric’s life professionally and personally as he added Clos Erasmus to his portfolio and convinced Daphne to marry him! For his pioneering efforts, Eric Solomon founder of European Cellars has been recognized by Robert Parker as his Wine Personality of the Year for 2002, remarking, “Solomon has a great talent for ferreting out spectacular wines from France and Spain. The quality of these selections is remarkable.” In 2006 he was awarded Best Importer of the Year by Food and Wine Magazine and he has been a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Writing in celebration of European Cellars’ 25th anniversary, Robert Parker followed on his earlier praise, writing, “I first tasted with Eric in 1991/1992, and I have watched him grow as an importer to the point where he may be the finest in the United States.” Join us as we welcome special guest Matt Carroll, East Coast European Cellars Representative as we roll out this great line-up of French & Spanish Imports from Eric's impressive portfolio of winemakers!

Meet The Faces Behind The Story, Smith Story Wines!

Saturday, February 29, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Founded by Eric and Ali Story in 2013, Smith Story is trully a wine of the people! The first step into building a sustainability driven family winery was in order to be a grape grower partner with Smith Story, the vineyard must be family or independently owned.  In fact, their Kickstarter Campaign was “Farmers First” so their story would start with family owned farms from the very beginning. Now in 2018 they are actively working with 12 family vineyards throughout Anderson Valley and Sonoma County. Eric Story is the full-time winemaker and Katy Wilson is their consulting winemaker who has a pedigree from Flowers, Joseph Phelps, Craggy Range, Kamen and her own eponymous label LaRue Wines. Largely in part to their art of storytelling online before a single drop of wine was bottled, their story resonated with thousands of wine consumers across the nation and internationally. These consumers are best described as “Smith Story Supporters” helping to grow their supply channel through their local haunts and favorite wine shops. Their love of Smith Story has made them reach the success they’ve achieved to this very day and the quality of the wines keep them asking for more. We invite you to meet the owners of Smith Story Wines and you too will become a believer!
