Wines of the Month Maison Desprat... A Hidden Gem in the Heart of France!

Thursday, August 1

The Auvergne region of France is located in the heart of the country; the Auvergne Vineyard is the most upstream of the five wine-making regions of the Loire Valley and is one of the oldest vineyards in France. It has the oldest populated region of France with the lowest population density. With this in mind, it’s hardly surprising that most wine drinkers have not heard of their wines, let alone tried them! In 2011, the Cotes d’ Auvergne was upgraded and awarded AOC status and for the first time ever was available in the U.S. market. The wines offer a superb minerality and freshness with their volcanic origins being able to be recognized immediately. The vines grow on a wide array of soils that range from granite, sand and volcanic rocks depending on their location in relation to the ancient volcanoes. We can't wait to share Patrick's discovery, the uniquely charming wines of Maison Desprat to you all month long!

Wines from Renowned Italian Producer La Spinetta!

Saturday, August 3, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

La Spinetta has become a modern Italian superstar winery, producing some of Piemonte's most delicious wines at their main estate in Castagnole Lanze and their newer 'Campè' estate (acquired in 2000) in Grinzane Cavour. The three brothers Bruno, Carlo, and Giorgio Rivetti are behind the famed La Spinetta estate, which was founded by their parents in 1977. La Spinetta’s stunning, first-class cellars handle grapes from 100 hectares of vineyards and wines are aged in 100% new French oak barriques.  In 2001 the brothers bought 65 hectares more and established the budding 'Casanova' estate, where they were excited to develop three pure Sangiovese wines to express the inimitable land of Toscana just as they had done at home in Piemonte. You don't want to miss these exquisite wines from renowned produced La Spinetta!
