Bodegas Esporao Assobio From Douro, Portugal
This may be the finest dry red bargain we've ever tasted from Portugal, period. The 2011 Esporao Assobio clocks in with a huge 94 point score and a style akin to the great wines of Gigondas. Made from low yielding, sustainably farmed vines on the banks of the Douro river, this juicy, seductive blend sets a new standard for what can be achieved in this up-and-coming region. We bought up every case we could but there definitely won't be enough of this beauty to go around. Stock up on sale before its gone.

Made from traditional varietals (Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional) this is a classic approach to Portuguese wine with stunning results. Showing deep vibrant red, purple hues, aromas of fresh berries, dark fruits and brooding notes of spice erupt from the glass. The palate is ripe, plush, juicy and complex, but never heavy, showing an uncommon level of finesse with body, structure, and a long, enticing finish.
Please note: This is a one week sale limited to the wine in stock. Orders placed C.O.D. may only be held for seven days from date of order.
